Gunawan Jusuf on the Value of “Blue Gold.”

 

Early in 2016, Gunawan Jusuf decided to publish a book about water, which he entitled “Blue Gold.” In this book, he attempted to start a frank discussion about the immense value and the relative scarcity of the most important resource on the planet. He discussed the need to conserve all natural resources and learn to use them sparingly. Not only is water essential for human life, but it’s also important for many businesses and the economy in general. His business, in particular, relies heavily on the availability of water.

Gunawan Jusuf is currently the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Indonesia-based Sugar Group Companies, which is a collective of a number of independent companies that grow and refine sugar to be used in many popular consumer products. Water is an essential element of his business success. As CEO, he manages a great many plantations and refineries throughout Indonesia, as well as the dozen or so Sugar Group Companies offices located nationwide. He knows how important water is to everything he does, so he is very concerned about the preservation of natural resources.
